Contemporary Case Studies
The SOM student research team is exploring how secularism is portrayed through news sources in nine countries: Algeria, Belgium, France, Lebanon, Morocco, Québec/Canada, Senegal, Switzerland, and Tunisia. Here we share case study reports on different contemporary controversies related to secularism.
Lebanon
Our first case study is based on a 2023 debate in Lebanon and takes up one French-language daily newspaper with coding in French, and two Arabic-language daily newspapers, with coding translated into English.
